Filter Your Guest List: Find Non-Viewers, Dietary Needs, and More

You have 80 guests on your list. Somewhere in there are people who never opened the invitation, a few who mentioned nut allergies, and several who left messages you have not read yet. Scrolling through the entire list to find each group is tedious and you will miss someone. JustInvite's dashboard includes four smart filter chips — Not Viewed, No Reminder Sent, Has Dietary Needs, and Has Message — that instantly narrow your guest list to the people who need your attention. Filters combine with status tabs using AND logic and work alongside the search bar.
The Four Smart Filter Chips
Filter chips sit just below the status tabs on your RSVP dashboard. Tap any chip to toggle it on or off. Active chips are highlighted so you always know which filters are applied. Here is what each one does.
Not Viewed
Shows guests who have not opened your invitation link at all. These are pending guests who never tapped the link — meaning they either did not receive it, missed it in a busy chat, or their message app did not preview it. This filter is your strongest signal for re-sending the invitation through a different channel. If someone has not viewed the invitation, sending a reminder through the same channel probably will not help. Try a direct text, a phone call, or mentioning it in person instead. For more on tracking invitation views, see our dedicated guide.
No Reminder Sent
Filters for guests who have not received a reminder yet. This is especially useful when you want to preview who will be included in a bulk reminder before you send it. Combine this with the Pending tab to see exactly which non-responders have not been nudged — so you never accidentally double-remind someone who already got a follow-up. For ready-to-use reminder messages, check our RSVP reminder templates.
Has Dietary Needs
Shows any guest who mentioned dietary restrictions in their RSVP — allergies, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, halal, or anything else they typed into the dietary field. When it is time to finalize your catering order, apply this filter on the Accepted tab to get a focused list of every confirmed guest with a food requirement. You can also export the filtered list as CSV and hand it directly to your caterer. For tips on collecting dietary information effectively, see our guide on collecting dietary restrictions.
Has Message
Filters for guests who left a personal note with their RSVP. Guests use the message field for all kinds of things: asking about parking, mentioning they will arrive late, noting that they are bringing a homemade dish, or simply sending a kind note about how excited they are. This filter lets you read every message in one focused view instead of scrolling through your entire guest list looking for the speech bubble icon.
How Filters Combine with Tabs
Your dashboard has five status tabs — All, Pending, Accepted, Tentative, and Declined — and the four filter chips work on top of whichever tab is active. The combination uses AND logic: a guest must match the tab's status and every active filter to appear in the results. Practical examples of tab-plus-filter combos: Pending tab + Not Viewed filter = guests who have not responded and have never opened the invitation. These people almost certainly did not receive the link. Pending tab + No Reminder Sent filter = non-responders who have not been nudged yet. This is the ideal view before sending a bulk reminder. Accepted tab + Has Dietary Needs filter = confirmed guests with food requirements. This is the list your caterer needs. Accepted tab + Has Message filter = confirmed guests who left a note. Skim this before the event to catch any questions or special requests. You can also stack multiple filters. Pending + Not Viewed + No Reminder Sent shows the guests who are most disconnected from your event — they never saw the invitation and were never reminded. These are the highest-priority follow-ups.
The Search Bar: Find a Specific Guest Instantly
The search bar at the top of your guest list works as a third layer of narrowing, on top of tabs and filters. Type any part of a guest's name and the list updates instantly. Search respects the active tab and all active filters. If you are on the Accepted tab with "Has Dietary Needs" active, searching for "Maria" will only return accepted guests named Maria who have dietary restrictions. This three-layer approach — tab, filter, search — means you never have to scroll through a long list to find one person. For events with 50 or more guests, the search bar is significantly faster than scrolling. For smaller events you may not need it, but the filters alone will save you time when planning catering or deciding who needs a follow-up.
Using Filters to Prioritize Follow-Ups
Not all non-responders need the same approach. Filters help you triage your follow-up effort so you spend your time where it matters most. Priority 1: Pending + Not Viewed. These guests never opened the link. Resending through the same channel rarely works — switch to a direct text, a phone call, or a face-to-face mention. The problem is delivery, not motivation. Priority 2: Pending + No Reminder Sent (viewed). These guests saw the invitation but did not respond and have not been reminded. A single well-timed reminder typically converts 40-60 percent of this group. Priority 3: Tentative guests. Switch to the Tentative tab as your event approaches. These people said "maybe" and may just need a quick personal message to commit. Check the "Has Message" filter to see if any tentative guests mentioned why they are unsure — their note might tell you exactly what would tip them toward attending. For a deeper dive on chasing responses, see our guide on what to do when guests are not responding.
Bulk Reminders on Filtered Results
The bulk reminder feature sends a nudge to all pending guests who have not yet received a reminder. Before you press the button, use the "No Reminder Sent" filter on the Pending tab to preview exactly who will get the reminder. This gives you confidence that you are reaching the right people without double-notifying anyone. Best practice for timing. Send your bulk reminder 48-72 hours before your RSVP deadline. Earlier feels premature; later does not leave guests enough time to check their schedules. One well-timed reminder is almost always more effective than multiple follow-ups. After sending the reminder, revisit the "Not Viewed" filter a day later. Guests who still have not viewed the invitation after receiving a reminder need a different approach — a direct message, a phone call, or a mention in person. The filter makes this group easy to identify so you do not waste time on guests who already responded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply more than one filter at the same time?

Yes. You can activate multiple filter chips simultaneously. They combine with AND logic, so only guests who match every active filter appear. For example, activating "Not Viewed" and "No Reminder Sent" shows only guests who have neither opened the invitation nor received a reminder. This is useful for identifying the people most likely to have missed your invitation entirely.

Do filters work with the search bar?

Yes. The search bar respects all active filters and the current tab. If you are on the Pending tab with the "Has Dietary Needs" filter active, searching for a name will only return pending guests who have dietary restrictions and whose name matches your search. This three-layer narrowing — tab, filter, search — makes it easy to find exactly who you are looking for even in large guest lists.

What is the difference between "Not Viewed" and "Pending"?

Pending means the guest has not submitted a response — they could have seen the invitation and simply not responded yet. "Not Viewed" is more specific: it means the guest has not even opened the invitation link. A guest can be pending but have viewed the invitation (they saw it but did not respond), or pending and not viewed (they never opened the link at all). The distinction helps you decide whether to resend the link or send a reminder.

Can I send reminders only to filtered guests?

The bulk reminder feature sends reminders to all pending guests who have not yet received one. You can use the "No Reminder Sent" filter to preview exactly who will receive the reminder before you send it. This way you confirm the list looks right before taking action.

Are filters included when I export my guest list as CSV?

Yes. The CSV export respects your active tab and filters. If you filter for "Has Dietary Needs" on the Accepted tab, the exported file will contain only accepted guests who have dietary restrictions. This makes it easy to hand your caterer a focused list of dietary requirements without extra columns or manual cleanup.
